Legendary Musicians & Their Signature Cocktails: A Jams 'N' Cocktails Deep Dive

For centuries, music and cocktails have gone hand in hand. Whether it’s a smoky jazz club, a neon-lit rock venue, or a laid-back beach bar, drinks and melodies have always flowed together. Some of music’s most legendary artists weren’t just known for their hits—they had signature drinks that became as iconic as their songs.

In this episode of Jams 'N' Cocktails, host Brad Brock took listeners on a unique journey, mixing up classic cocktails favored by some of music’s biggest stars while sharing the stories behind them. From Frank Sinatra’s Rusty Nail to The Rolling Stones’ Tequila Sunrise, the night was filled with history, music, and of course—some strong drinks!

When Music Meets Mixology

Music has a way of setting the tone, just like a great cocktail. Some drinks are bold and rebellious, much like their rockstar counterparts. Others are smooth, sophisticated, and timeless, much like the crooners and jazz legends who made them famous.

Brad Brock spent the evening testing out some of these legendary drinks, sharing their origins, and even performing live music to match the mood. Whether listeners were watching the show live or catching up later, the night was a celebration of music, mixology, and memories.

The Cocktail Lineup

Each cocktail featured in this episode had a story to tell—just like the artists who loved them. Here’s a look at some of the standout drinks of the night:

🥃 The Rusty Nail – Frank Sinatra’s Go-To Drink

A mix of Scotch whiskey and Drambuie, the Rusty Nail was a favorite of Frank Sinatra. Much like Ol’ Blue Eyes himself, this drink is smooth, classy, and stands the test of time. Brad kicked off the night by mixing up this classic cocktail, taking a moment to appreciate Sinatra’s effortless cool.

🌅 Tequila Sunrise – The Rolling Stones’ Rock & Roll Fuel

The Tequila Sunrise was discovered by The Rolling Stones during their 1972 tour, quickly becoming a rockstar staple. A simple yet vibrant mix of tequila, orange juice, and grenadine, this drink is as bold and electrifying as Mick Jagger’s stage presence. While mixing it up, Brad noted that the drink is very tequila-forward—perfect for die-hard fans of the spirit.

🍸 The Brandy Alexander – George Harrison’s Sweet Escape

The Brandy Alexander is smooth, creamy, and indulgent—just like the introspective songwriting of George Harrison. Made with brandy, crème de cacao, and heavy cream, this cocktail serves as the perfect dessert drink. Brad ranked it as his personal favorite of the night, highlighting its balance of sweetness and warmth.

🍏 Gin & Apple Juice – Teddy Swims’ Unexpected Favorite

One of the biggest surprises of the night was Teddy Swims’ go-to drink: a simple mix of gin and apple juice. Brad, curious about how the botanical notes of gin would mix with the crisp sweetness of apple juice, was pleasantly surprised. The result? A refreshingly smooth cocktail with a subtle bite, proving that sometimes the simplest combinations are the best.

🎵 Live Music & Name That Tune

Between mixing drinks, Brad kept the energy up with a live music set, performing classic hits that matched the cocktails being featured. From "Fly Me to the Moon" to "Wild Horses", the music brought the drinks to life, reinforcing the deep connection between great songs and great cocktails.

Listeners also got a chance to test their music knowledge with a round of "Name That Tune", where they guessed iconic songs with drink-related themes. The interactive segment had the audience engaged and battling it out in the comments, proving that JNC fans know their music history!

Entertainment Buzz: The Jordy Files

No JNC episode is complete without The Jordy Files, where Brad covered the latest entertainment headlines:

  • Will Smith's Return to Music – The actor and rapper announced his first album in nearly 20 years, titled Based on a True Story.

  • Hollywood Scam Alert – Director Carl Erik Rinsch was indicted for wire fraud and money laundering, after allegedly misusing $11 million from Netflix.

  • A Music Legend Passes – Jesse Colin Young, the voice behind Get Together by The Youngbloods, passed away at 83, leaving behind a legacy of peace and unity.

  • Local Music Events – Exciting shows were highlighted, including the Dirty River Jam in Jensen Beach and Kevin McLoughlin’s upcoming UK tour.

Beer 30 & Final Cheers

As the show wrapped up, Brad took on the Beer 30 challenge, downing a cold brew in record time—because what’s a cocktail-themed episode without a celebratory beer to top it all off?

In his final thoughts, he reflected on the beauty of individual taste—whether in music, drinks, or life itself. Just as artists have their unique sounds and styles, people have different preferences when it comes to cocktails. The key takeaway? Embrace the differences, try something new, and always raise a glass to good company.
