Hey guys, sad news today. Bob Barker, the super cool host of "The Price Is Right," has passed away at the age of 99. His representative, Roger Neal, confirmed the news, but we don't know the cause of his passing.
For over 35 years, Barker was the host of the awesome game show where people bid on things like gum, popcorn poppers, and luggage locks to win a "BRAND NEW CAR!" It first aired in the '50s and '60s with Bill Cullen, then came back in 1972 with Barker. He rocked the show for 35 years before passing the mic to comedian Drew Carey in 2007.
Barker was a total legend, winning 19 Emmys and a lifetime achievement award for his amazing work. He believed the show's success came from its fast pace and the realness of the contestants. Unlike other shows, they weren't pre-screened, so they were just like us!
But you know what Barker loved even more than hosting "The Price Is Right"? Animals! He was super passionate about animal welfare and spent a lot of his money and time to help end animal cruelty and reduce pet overpopulation. He always reminded viewers at the end of each show to "have your pets spayed or neutered!" That was his thing, and he wanted to be remembered for it.
Bob Barker was a true icon, and he'll be missed by all of us. Let's remember him for his awesome hosting skills and his dedication to making the world a better place for animals. Rest in peace, Bob Barker.
