Joe Perry was visibly struggling to remain upright—but the Aerosmith guitarist kept trying to play until he finally collapsed backstage.

He eventually walked offstage and collapsed shortly afterward. Perry was taken to the hospital and reported to be in stable condition.

The song won a Grammy and became one of the most recognizable story songs in country-music history.

Atkins was also a leading executive and producer for RCA Records in Nashville. Along with other influential producers, he helped develop the Nashville Sound—a smoother, pop-oriented approach that expanded country music’s reach beyond its traditional audience.

During his career, Atkins helped guide artists and recordings associated with some of Nashville’s biggest names, including Dolly Parton, Waylon Jennings, Jim Reeves, Eddy Arnold and Don Gibson.

He received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, entered the Country Music Hall of Fame and was posthumously inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The 77-year-old singer repeatedly sat down while performing “Dancing on the Ceiling” and told the audience that he was not feeling well. Richie then moved to the piano for “Three Times a Lady” before announcing an unexpected intermission so he would not fall over.

His band remained onstage temporarily, but Richie did not return, and the remainder of the concert was canceled.

Under doctors’ advice to rest and return to full health, Richie postponed the following concerts in Chicago and Columbus. He is currently scheduled to return to the stage with Earth, Wind & Fire in Pittsburgh on June 30.

No specific cause for the illness has been publicly announced.

At age 17, Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi suffered a devastating accident during his final day working at a sheet-metal factory.

Because Iommi plays guitar left-handed, his right hand presses the strings against the fretboard. The accident severed the tips of the middle and ring fingers on that hand, and doctors told him that his guitar-playing days were over.

After hearing about jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt, who continued performing despite severe damage to his fretting hand, Iommi began searching for a way to play again.

He created homemade fingertips from molded plastic, experimented with lighter strings and tuned his guitar lower to reduce tension. Those adaptations helped produce the dark, heavy guitar tone that defined Black Sabbath and influenced generations of heavy-metal musicians.

Country singer Bailey Zimmerman has apologized while facing criminal charges connected to alleged damage at the Sandia Resort and Casino in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Authorities allege that Zimmerman’s hotel room sustained more than $16,000 in damage following a scheduled May 27 concert that was canceled shortly before showtime.

An arrest warrant was issued on June 18. Zimmerman is facing a felony charge for criminal damage to property and a misdemeanor charge related to allegedly obtaining services without payment.

In a public statement, Zimmerman apologized to the Pueblo of Sandia, Sandia Resort and Casino, and fans who purchased tickets for the canceled performance. He said the fans deserved better, stated that he was taking the legal matter seriously and promised to learn from what happened.

The criminal case remains ongoing, and the allegations have not yet been resolved in court.

When music was banned in the Soviet Union, fans secretly played it on discarded X-rays of human bones—and risked prison to hear it. 💀🎶

During the 1950s, music fans in the Soviet Union found an extraordinary way to hear songs that had been banned by the government: they recorded them onto discarded medical X-rays.

Using modified recording equipment, underground bootleggers carved audio grooves into flexible X-ray sheets showing ribs, skulls, hands and other parts of the human body. The recordings became known as “bone music,” “music on ribs” or roentgenizdat.

The makeshift records carried forbidden Western jazz and rock ’n’ roll, including songs associated with artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Bill Haley and the Beatles. They also preserved Russian music that Soviet authorities classified as criminal or culturally unacceptable.

Distributing the recordings could lead to arrest and imprisonment, but underground music lovers continued producing and sharing them—proving how far people would go simply to hear a song.
